OzNSUers Gala Night-2020

The Aussie NSUers Association, known as “OzNSUers”, formed in January, 2011 aims to bring all NSUers in Australia and New Zealand under one community. It is an Independent Non-Profit Organisation, registered as an Incorporated Association with Department of Fair Trading NSW, formed to support former students, faculty and other staffs of North South University living in ANZ to succeed in their professional and personal life.

OzNSUers Executive Body diligently works to maintain contacts with the Alumni, home and abroad, and to exchange ideas and information through communications and congregations. Keeping that in mind, Aussie NSUers has organising a grand gala night on Sat 1st Feb 2020.

The aim is to create an opportunity for friendship, networking and avenue of offering mutual help among NSU alumni, Local Community, Other Bangladeshi Alumni, Academics from Bangladesh & Australia. The details of the event was following:

OzNSU Executive Body has worked hard to ensure an evening full of fun, entertainment, live music, networking, children’s party, sumptuous food, publications with messages from NSU, OzNSUers Executive Body, Writings from Community Leaders & professionals and NSUers. Few of the major parts of the program were performance by kids of NSU alumni, game show, performance by NSU artists. OzNSU Executive Body have also presented their annual report as part of Annual General Meeting. Among the speeches:

  1. Towheed Chowdhury, Secretary General presented last year’s OzNSUers activities – Charity work with Good Morning Bangladesh to fight cancer, OzNSU Cricket playing all major community tournaments, helping people in natural disasters – bush fire, flood etc; helping NSUers in need (NSUers unwell due to terminal diseases). Celebrated “Pohela Falgun” with the alumni, raised fund through tea stall at Boishakhi Mela to fund all the activities and charities for the year.
  2. Newaz Hasan, Treasurer presented the finance report and invited all alumni to be registered members of Aussie NSUers Association to be active part of OzNSUers and get more involved and engaged in all OzNSUers activities.
  3. Nahid Kamal, President addressed the guests, alumni and invited them to Connect & Reconnect with OzNSUers to assist NSUers at ANZ and their families, local community, current students of North South University, and work with our other alumni groups and organisation and businesses to build the strongest and sustainable network.

A short documentary on NSU with message from Chairman and Vice Chancellor was presented along with video message from Dr. Katherine Li, Director of Office of External Affairs and current NSU students were played at the event to connect the alumni with their root, NSU.

To elevate the evening OzNSUers have invited Elita Karim, Renowned Singer from Bangladesh who is an NSU celebrity and talent. Elita’s greatest hits along with performance from other local NSU talents Laura & Mitul made it a night to remember for the NSUers & Family. OzNSU Executive Body is working towards more engagement and participation in future, this time, they have declared subsidised tickets for NSUers, who are International Students and Cricketers playing in OZNSU Cricket team to increase the participation.
